Atari Joins Millions of LGBT Community Members and Allies in Support of LGBT Pride Month, Showcases New Pridefest Game to Consumers for the First Time at NYC Pride and Flame Con

NEW YORK – June 11, 2015 – Atari®, one of the world's most recognized publishers and producers of interactive entertainment, today joined the greater LGBTQ community and millions of allies in celebrating LGBT Pride Month by supporting two of New York’s most vibrant events of the month, NYC Pride and Flame Con. These two events will serve as the platform to debut Pridefest, Atari’s upcoming mobile and tablet game that celebrates LGBTQ equality, and showcase the yet-to-be-released game to consumers for the first time. Coming soon to the App Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch and Android devices, Pridefest is a social-sim game that empowers players to design and launch their very own personalized pride parade, connect with friends, create social clubs and more.

“With NYC Pride’s more than 30 year history of organizing pride events in New York and Flame Con bringing the first LGBTQ comic convention to Brooklyn, we couldn’t have asked for two better events to put our support behind and show our Pridefest game at for the first time,” said Fred Chesnais, Chief Executive Officer, Atari, Inc. “We’ve been working hard to make Pridefest a genuinely fun game for everyone and we look forward to hearing feedback from our fans.”

“We are proud to partner with an iconic brand like Atari at NYC Pride this year,” said Chris Frederick, Editor-in-Chief and Managing Director of NYC Pride. “Our theme for this year is ‘Complete the Dream’ and having a company like Atari on board embodies the celebratory, dynamic environment we strive to create at our Pride events in New York which attract 2 million annually.”

Flame Con is a one-day comics, arts, and entertainment expo showcasing creators and celebrities from all corners of the LGBT geek fandom, including comics, video games, film, and television.

"Geeks OUT is thrilled to have Atari's support for Flame Con. It's so great to see a legendary gaming company like Atari offering support for the LGBTQ community and picking Flame Con as a space to debut Pridefest,” said Joey Stern, President of Geeks OUT. “We've always wanted Flame Con to be a space for members of our community to experience new forms of Queer Art and with this game, Atari is helping us deliver on that goal."
