I am using an Aureal A3D 3D sound accelerator board such as the Diamond Monster Sound 3D. How do I enable 3D sound support?
You need to go into the Advanced Options Menu. Under Audio: turn on Use3dHardware to enable 3D sound card support. You must then disable the Aureal's ""A3D Splash Screen"" in the Aureal configuration utility. If this is not disabled, Klingon Honor Guard may be unable to go into full-screen mode because of the splash screen interference. Information updated 11/17/98 The Klingon Honor Guard patch version 1.1 is also addressing this sound card problem. If you don't have this version, please download it now. My sound effects tend to lag behind the rest of the game when playing under Windows NT.
Because of the way operating systems work, many Windows NT machines experience significant latency in their sound effects. There is no solution to this problem at this time.
When I enable 3D Sound support on the Aureal, the game slows down dramatically.
You need to upgrade to the latest version of Aureal's A3D drivers.
Why can't I select my sound card driver in the Drivers section of the Advanced Options menu?
The Galaxy audio driver listed is not a hardware driver for your sound card but a software driver for the Galaxy audio system that Klingon Honor Guard uses. You do not need to select your own card's driver.
I installed the game ok but every time I try to run it, I get a 'mutual exclusion' error message.
Most ""mutual exclusion"" errors are a result or wrong drivers for your 3D card. A visit to the 3dfx web site to get the latest reference drivers will solve those problems. If you replaced a previous voodoo 1 video card with a newer card (most likely voodoo2): You need to contact the Hardware manufacturer of the previous card for assistance in removing any leftover invalid system files and registry entries still residing on your system. If you don't have the latest version of Klingon Honor Guard, please download it from the link below. Disable direct support from Voodoo2 settings 1)Go to display properties 2)Click the 3dfx Voodoo2 tab 3)Click the advanced tab 4)Click the disable voodoo2 Direct 3d support 5)Click ok and apply and the game should run with full acceleration Note If you have an Obsidian 2 you may not have this option in your display Settings for Glide. You can get these options by downloading the reference 'Glide' drivers from the 3Dfx site. Click on the link(s) below to obtain the appropriate update file: VISIT the 3Dfx site for the latest reference drivers Get the KHG patch version 1.1 (approx 2.3 MB) Read the release Notes for Klingon Honor Guard version 1.1

Changing Camera views
We do not recommend that you play at any camera view but the default. However we have included three other camera views that can be used to observe game action: Behind view - third person style camera view Overhead view - like the name says - overhead view of your character. Player Cam - Camera that is facing the player and follows them wherever they go. There are two ways to switch these views: Type SwitchViewTo # at the console. The # 0-3 will switch camera position as follows: 0 - Normal 1 - Behind view 2 - Overhead view 3 - Player Cam You can also type the following at the console: Behindcam for Behind View Overheadcam for Overhead View Playercam for Player Cam View To toggle back to normal type the command again. The game is designed to be playable up to 300 millisecond ping times, 5% packet loss, and 28.8K connection speeds. First: Go to Display Properties in your control panels and make sure you are set for 16 bit color, NOT 32 bit. Next thing to do please is to install the patch from the link below. Next: Update your driver. Banshee owners need to use the drivers from 3DFX's web site. Some of the video board manufacturers have not incorporated the latest drivers on their web sites. please follow the instructions on how to install those new drivers. (When you get the driver page at 3DFX, go to USA, then Downloads, Voodoo Banshee Drivers, scroll down past the listing of board manufacturers and get the 3DFX Available Runtime drivers. Pick Win 95 or 98, (9x means both), and choose PCI or AGP whichever type your board is - as of Jan 99 3dfx site might change the listing at a later date). To get a fresh start for all of your Advanced Options settings, move the Klingon.ini file (or KHG.ini if the game is patched) in the Khg / System folder to another place and let the game try and make a new one when you start the game again. The game should create a new ini file as if you were playing for the first time. This will allow you to tell the game you are using a 3DFX card because it always asks you that question the first time the game is played. (This works on most systems, if this doesn't work then put the ini file back in the game's system folder where you found it.) The game is playing in a small window. How can I make it play in full screen?
During gameplay: Press the ENTER key on your keyboard while holding down the ALT key. The game should instantly switch to full screen mode. Or, you can pick a full screen mode directly from the Advanced Options menu.
The game is too dark in software mode
If you are running is software mode and the game is too dark, go into Options / Advanced Options / Display / and set NoLighting to True. Also the F11 key will change brightness during gameplay.
Video AVI problems
Some machines cannot play the AVI mission briefings properly when set higher than 16-bit color. Playing the AVIs will cause the game to exit and display an error message. Please update your DirectDraw display drivers to try and resolve this issue. If that does not work then you will have to set your desktop resolution to 16-bit color.
When I try to switch to full screen mode, the game goes right back to a window, displays an error message, or crashes.
Some video drivers do not properly support DirectDraw full-screen mode in 16- or 32-bit color at any resolution. Try installing DirectX 5 from the CD. If this does not work, you can try to obtain the latest DirectX driver update for your card from your computer or video card manufacturer.
