Gameplay Problems

"I am playing the Classic Missions in Urban Operations, and I am unable to disarm the security console in mission 4, Deep Magic."

This is a known problem. The security panel is a bit touchy and can be hard to disable, but it can be done. Try moving your character around a bit while holding down the action key (space bar by default). It may take several tries, but eventually you should see a progress meter appear indicating that you are disabling the security.

Multiplayer Problems

"I am trying to host a 6 player game, but players 5 and 6 are having problems connecting."

The first 4 players of a game will usually be able to join without a problem (including the host player). However, players 5 and 6 may run into problems. If you receive an error message, or are simply unable to connect, try immediatly to join the game again. The host machine should allow you to join on the next attempt. A permanent fix for this problem is being developed, and will be posted here when it is released.

"I am unable to play with people who have the PC version of Rogue Spear."

Both players must be using the same version of the game in order to connect to one another.

The current version of Rogue Spear for the Mac is 2.06. The current version of Rogue Spear for the PC is 2.05. Because the two versions are using different code bases, they will not work together. The PC and Mac versions should be compatible when the 2.06 version for the PC is released.

Likewise, the current versions of Urban Operations for Mac and PC are also different versions. Both Mac and PC are version 2.50 when installed initially. However, a 2.52 patch has been released for the PC. If a PC user has this 2.52 patch installed, they will not be able to play with Mac users. If the PC user uninstalls Urban Operations and reinstalls version 2.50, they will be able to play multiplayer games with the current Mac version.

Standard Troubleshooting

There are no other known issues with Rogue Spear. If you are having any problems, try the following solutions:
  1. Check to make sure that your system meets or exceeds the minimum system requirements for Rogue Spear. If your system meets these requirements, but does not exceed them, video or sound may be hesitant.

  2. Make sure that all other programs, including screen savers and virus scanning software, are turned off.
  3. Make sure virtual memory is turned on, and set to 128MB.

  4. Go into the game's Options menu and turn some of the details or sounds options off or down. You may also want to turn the game's maximum attempted frame rate down as well.

  5. Some software titles may have extension conflicts with Rogue Spear. Turn off all extensions that you are not using for the game.
