Hints & Tips

  • Try using different camera angles when batting, pitching and fielding. These are customizable in the graphics menu.

  • When pitching don't always throw in the strike zone. Entice the batter to swing at a bad pitch outside the strike zone.

  • Hardball 6: 2000 Edition mimics real-life baseball, so play to each player's strengths and manipulate opponents' weaknesses. For example, if you have Randy Johnson, give opposing batters a steady diet of fastballs and sliders, with only an occasional curve ball.

  • When batting, don't worry about selecting "Power" mode. Home runs can be produced strictly using the "Contact" style as well. The game is more about getting a good swing and connecting with the ball.

  • When substituting pitchers, make sure you give your bullpen enough time to warm up. Subbing in a cold pitcher can produce disastrous results.

  • If you're having troubles fielding or batting, be sure to get plenty of practice in Training Mode. Locating pitches and perfecting that home run swing is easy to do in the Home Run Derby.
