For help or rules in Backyard Football 2002, click on the Help button on the Startup screen before playing the game.
Be aware of your players' preferences in teammates. Ashley and Sidney, the twins, will play better if they are on the same team. So will Achmed and Amir.
However, Tony and Angela don't like to play on the same team… sibling rivalry.
Try to play a game on one of your player's birthdays. Their birthdays are listed on their cards, and they play really well on their special days. If you have the twins on your team, play on February 18, when you get two birthdays for the price of one!
Also, remember some other preferences your teammates have. Some play much better in some positions than others. Maria plays pretty well, but especially well if her uniform is her favorite color… pink.
Remember that you can play with some of the real NFL stars, as kids. But don't forget the original Backyard Bunch… they play great too!
You can also make your own custom-made player for the Backyard Football League! This player can look like you, share your strengths and weaknesses on the Field, and even have your birthday!
Be aware of your players' statistics when deciding what position they should play. For instance, good throwers make good quarterbacks and good catchers are the best receivers.
