I want to revive this thread with the standard question on every Anime and Manga specific board:
What are your favourite animes so far?
As for me it's
1. Crest of the Stars (with follow up Banner of the Stars I+II)
2. Mahoromatic
3. .hack//SIGN


Some other Animes that I enjoyed include RahXephon, FLCL, Cowboy Bebop, Arjuna, Noir, Scrapped Princess and Azumanga Daioh

For me :

1)Evangelion
2)Kenshin
3).hack project

But the choice is very very hard (except for the 1st place :D ). I love a lot also Escaflowne, Noir, GTO, Lain, RahXephon, Wolf's Rain, Witch Hunter Robin, Love Hina, the Ghibli's (Mononoke Chihiro Laputa etc etc) and all the others "classics" (like lodoss saint seiya ... )

I agree its difficult to pick just 3, but when I think about it, those 3 series entertained me the most, so they must be my favourites...I guess...

Lain wacked my mind very well when I watched it, same for EVA, but the more other animes I watch the more I see that I just used to enjoy eva because its one of the first serious series I've watched.

And Ghibli is just incomparable to other series or movies... :)

Well in fact, i love having headaches thinking on animes :D and in this case Eva and Lain are excellent series :D

Hey, same here!

EVA and Lain are classics in that "genre", I loved those when I was watching them. FLCL made my head hurt as well, so much wackiness...!
Also, Boogiepop Phantom is awesome if you like anime that mess with your mind. It has great atmosphere and a very very weird story with many facettes as well als timejumps.
And of course I guess you enjoyed RahXephon because of its weirdness too (although the romance in it was pretty nice too..).

Recently theres a new Anime out in Japan, its called Paranoia Agent. I've just seen the first episode of it but I can tell its going to become a very weird story, and very mysterious as well...I suggest you download it...

Yes, rahxephon is pretty good for that. At the beginning, when i started watch that, i was thinking that rahxephon was just an eva-like without the "soul" of eva... but when the story started to grow i saw that it was a series with its full spirit. Some episodes are really beautiful (the one outside Tokyo Jupiter with Asahina) and the ending is great (with the final revelation of the meeting just after the ending theme).

Yeah that's true, I also like the whole thing with the time paradoxons and parallel universes. Up until ep 10 I was constantly thinking "eva eva eva eva" when I was watching it, but then it changed...
The Asahina episode was very touching, its one of the best episodes.
It's on the 1st place on my "must get dvd"-list. Just before SIGN and Noir.


Have you seen the RahXephon movie Pluralitas Concentio?
It's actually a recap of the series, but it contains a lot of explanatory stuff about Quon, the "past" (the time shortly after the first meeting you mentioned), the Muu and much more. Also, you get to see why she called herself Mishima REIKA...and there's some other additional stuff, as well as a tweaked ending. Very worth watching..

Yes, I'm also waiting for the release of this series... Noir is released at the beginning of mars in france, i think i'll buy it... (i also currently buy witch hunter robin and wolf's rain and i'm wainting for the 1st of sign).

I didn't know for pluralitas, in fact i only have the audio part of that (i thought it was only an audio thing lol). I've seen the movie of rahxephon, also great.

A very good series in conclusion.

Noir is coming out in germany as well in March, SIGN in April (probably). RahXephon is coming later this year. This is going to be expensive...I'm already buying Love Hina and Hellsing dvds.. :/

Erm I thought Pluralitas Concentio is the subtitle of the RahXephon movie..and there are not 2 movies AFAIK O_o

Yes, we have those already ;) Rahxephon will be released in june, and sign during this month. Love Hina and Hellsing have already been released.

I think it's probably the case for rahxephon, i'll watch again the movie...

Noir, Utena, Violinist Of Hameln, Evangelion, Sailor Moon, Card Captor Sakura, Ayashi No Ceres, Rose Of Versailles, Scrapped Princess, Vampire Princess Miyu, Full Metal Panic, Excel Saga, Puni Puni Poemi, One Piece (I just started watching that this morning, though!)...

ofcourse there are great animes out there but I love Hack more than anything I've seen and trust me I seen a lot^^

Evangelion was great too but I think the director didn't got the chance show us what he really needed to show us.........I'm thinking about the end in eva........we see Shinji in a devastated and destroyed mind and Asuka too and still is Shinji able to chose life........sorry but tell that to ppl in the world who's in the same position and chose sucide. I think he wanted Shinji to have some happiness again before the big bang in the end so Shinji really could say; "thats life! You got ups and downs but lifes go on and you make it worthwhile yourself if you care about it"

about eva and the focus on Shinji^^ just found a person I can compare it too. Kira from Gundam Seed is great example of what I think Hideko (the director on eva) wanted to show as a character in Shinji. See Gundam Seed, it's great too and a lot different from the others Gundam series (It's my first Gundam serie I ever saw and it took my with storm^^)
