A topic to speak about the 1st series .hack//sign.

I´ll start...

Which EP you liked most?

I liked Ep 25 most, because there were 2 big symbolic things in this Episode

- With unity we could acheive everything (The Scene where all defeated the Twilight Guardian, the unbeatable Monster)

and

- Everything can start again... (Mahas aromatic grass blooms again) this was one of the scenes that causes many tears to me.

And of course Maha´s dead. He scarficed himself for Tsukasa, because Tsukasa was that one that could bring a new life to "The World", as the Aromatic Grass Blooms again..

Very symbolic and very nice...

I love the 25 too...

but I think my favorite is the 19 which tells about the past of Subaru, the character I identify the most. I love the way Subaru and Crim have created the Crimson Knights.:)

I love the episode 11 and 19 most. 19 because of the end with subaru and my favorite song in it (in the land of twilight) and 11, ´cause it´s the only time the party is actually playing "the world" like normal people would do. and the end of this episode is very good too.

Subaru Sama

Yes, the ep. 11 is very good for this cooperation between all the main characters. Like in a real MMORPG. Even Tsukasa who is normally totally sad and alone begins to discover happiness.

And I love in the land of twilight under the moon too, it's a great fantasy song. Yuki rules!

Geist

Yes, I love the end of 11, when Tsukasa enjoys to be with his friends, and then the real shit begins.

the "remix" episode 14 is also good, when the long scene with tsukasas real life play, along with that amazing "dark" remix of broken wings.

I think the genius of the director is to have given a new vision of the story in the ep 14. He didn't only make a new edition of the story, he also gave a new dimension and a new meaning to all the events thanks to this new realisation. It is what we can expect from the director of the excellent "Noir".

Sora
09-02-2004, 07:19 pm
Do you mean the great Flashback Episode Evidence..

This is Ep 15 not 14.

Ep 14 is Castle, the Episode where Tsukasa dies...

Hey, we buy our dvds and cds on the same website lol!;) :)

Well I'm like you, I don't know anything about this episode... maybe it's the episode also called ".hack//unison" ? (which is in the dvd ".hack//integration" with the 4 ".hack//liminality")... I've seen the ep 27, but I didn't find informations about the 28 anywhere...

The dvds are coming in france at the end of the month, but it will take a lot of time before coming to the 9th dvd...

Maybe we should look it on the US dvd?

Subaru Sama

I've done a search and on some forums they say that the 28th episode is ".hack//unison". They don't speak about Evidence... maybe they are the same?

We should ask to Helba about that? lol

You're right, I didn't think about the release date... stupid girl! lol

So, like you said, the answer will come with the jap' dvd... or if Helba contact us...

Subaru Sama
09-02-2004, 09:47 pm
It could also be an episode like the 15th... in some series, the dvd edition doesn't include the summaries or remix episodes, so, if it's a remix episode, it could be possible that he hasn't been included either in the US dvds nor in the fansubs projects (I think to Wolf's Rain)...

What do you think about that?

From Detph is everything wrong beacuse DEPTH was the 16th Ep..

EP 15 was Evidence...

or maybe they Changed the whole order...

If yes the order should be this...

Episode 1: Role Play
Episode 2: Guardian
Episode 3: Folklore
Episode 4: Wanted
Episode 5: Captured
Episode 6: Encounter
Episode 7: Reason
Episode 8: Promise
Episode 9: Epitaph
Episode 10: Compensation
Episode 11: Party
Episode 12: Entanglement
Episode 13: Twilight Eye
Episode 14: Castle
Episode 15: Depth
Episode 16: Conflict
Episode 17: Declaration
Episode 18: Recollection

Episode 22: The Eve
Episode 23: Net Slum
Episode 24: Catastrophe
Episode 25: Return
Episode 26: Intermezzo
Episode 27: Evidence (like a special episode)

The correct order, in that the show was aired on TV should be

Episode 1: Role Play
Episode 2: Guardian
Episode 3: Folklore
Episode 4: Wanted
Episode 5: Captured
Episode 6: Encounter
Episode 7: Reason
Episode 8: Promise
Episode 9: Epitaph
Episode 10: Compensation
Episode 11: Party
Episode 12: Entanglement
Episode 13: Twilight Eye
Episode 14: Castle
Episode 15: Evidence
Episode 16: Depth
Episode 17: Conflict
Episode 18: Declaration
Episode 19: Recollection
Episode 20: Tempest
Episode 21: Despair
Episode 22: Phantom
Episode 23: The Eve
Episode 24: Net Slum
Episode 25: Catastrophe
Episode 26: Return

[Episode 27: Intermezzo
Episode 28: Unsion] - that episodes have never been aired on any TV Station on the whole wide world ^^

This is also a possibility...

I don´t know why they make such a mistake or that there are other possibility... i can only guess..

Only the japanese DVD´s have maybe this kind of problem. On the US DVD´s are the Episodes in the correct way (that way, how they were aired ^^)

Well done Sora! :) It's totally possible, and it joins what i said about the remix episodes which are sometimes not included in the dvds...
I think we're on the right way! ;)

Here is a comment of a french website which's speaking about the 4th US dvd of .hack :

"NOTE: l'épisode 15, qui est un simple résume des événements qui se sont déroulés jusqu'ŕ présent, n'a pas été inclus dans cette édition DVD. "

It says that the 15th episode, which is a summary of the events, is not included in the dvd. On the site they say the dvd contains episodes 16 through 19...

So it probably be the fact that they didn't included the ep 15 in the japanese edition, and so they placed a 28th episode instead in the last dvd...

I think we have understood the origin of the problem... :) (morality : buy the US dvds, and I hope the french edition will follow the US one lol ;) )

It seems that the US DVD has EP 15 really on the 4th DVD...

Because Unsion and Intermezzo are on the Limited Edition of the 6th DVd.. and the normal DVD contains onyl EP 23-26

*sigh*

But i can´t tell for sure until i´ll get it, and that will take some time...

My fansub contains 26 episode, and the last one is "Return", so I guess you´re right with the remix episode. Could anyone please tell me what intermezzo is about (without great spoilers of course ;-) )

Intermezzo can be considered a stand alone episode. It doesn't deal much with the storyline of SIGN.

The ep basically tells the story of a player character (and her player/s) who looks like Gardenia (Female blonde Long Arm). Mimiru also has a connection with this player character and is the narrator in this episode.
It's a very nice episode since it shows the connection between RL and the game very well.

Does anyone know if GIFT is going to get a R1 release? That episode was pretty funny :)

Also, what about a PAL release of SIGN? I don't like to support american companys, so I prefer local releases. A german fansuber told me that Atari holds some kind of pre-license on SIGN and is looking for a local dvd company to cooperate with the release of the series. That's probably the case for most european countrys, not just for germany.

I don't know for the German edition, but the French Edition is coming at the end of the month and is published by Beez ( = Bandai France).

Yeah, france is quite ahead of germany AND the US from what I know. I guess it's just a matter of time until SIGN comes to the other european countrys though. It's just a matter of months or years :P

In all ways Unison is the last of sign cause it is a cross-over between the characters of the series and of the games. It's a sort of epilogue for sign and liminality series.

I love epiloges too since they tell me what happened after the last episode. Even if ppl say it's some stupid thing to do but for me it's reassuring if there a epilog telling me that it ended good^^.

After seeing many animes I hate a end where a great anime just end in the last 3 minuts and you go "Huh? What! Was is the end?" after seeing it.

Thats why epilog is good way to tell ppl see it ended good^^
and I don't care if it is a extra episode, the last episode or a ova telling the epilog^^

Although SIGN was an awesome anime, it was imo just a prologe to the 4 games. So of course, they never intended to end SIGN on ep 26 and left some more or less important things open for the games. But I like that in the end they went back to an anime version of the epiloge, this really strengthens the multimedia aspect of the franchise.

If you want to know more about what happened to the SIGN characters (IRL and Ingame) then you should check out the novel "ZERO" when it becomes available. I heard this novels deals with the SIGN characters to some degree...
I SO wanna read that myself..^^

And btw the problem with most animes today is that theyre based on mangas which didn't even end yet, so the authors either have to make an ending up (X TV, SDK...) or just leave it open (Ai Yori Aoshi, Fruits Basket,...). I don't like that :/

Subaru Sama
11-02-2004, 06:19 pm
i think the ending of sign is great for the series, but for me the best end i've ever seen was of course the one of evangelion...
But i love the end of sign, and after all, it's not an end, juste a beginning, cause the world goes on!

The-One
12-02-2004, 08:10 pm
yeah the world goes on and thats the great thing I like about .Hack//sign....the end and the start of the anime can be connected like a ring if you let a person see the last half of the last episode and the first they wouldn't know that they saw the last episode first^^

The thing that happens to Sora in the end could the same thing that happened to tsukasa when he played the game^^
You aren't allowed to be too cocky in The World lol

Subaru Sama

You're right. :) A great thing in this series is that it's an infinite universe, and the stories don't know any limits... even if we come to the max level, there will always be a thing to do...

It's here the second point which I love in .hack//sign ... The way the story shows us the behaviours of the characters in the game and in IRL; the way they act, and the problems they know. It's very close to the reality. I mean, on the net community exist guys like Crim for example who have made the "mistake" to merge real life and virtual life, on the net community exists persons like BT who are searching a better way to live in games, etc etc. Sign use that with a great dexterity. For the characters are all "simples", I mean, they are very close to us, we can identify easily to one of them, and it's may be because of this simplicity of the characters (when i say simplicity, i mean that their behaviours are close to ours) that hack//sign is so beautiful...:)

I trully agree and don´t forget the symbolism in .hack//SIGN.. You´ll find very nice things.. especially in Ep 25 and 26..

for an example:

- Mahas self-sacrifice
- The destruction of the guardian
- Sora´s crucifixion *sigh*

Subaru Sama
12-02-2004, 09:09 pm
The sacrifice of Maha is very beautiful... I hated this character at the beginnig of the anime, maybe 'cause he was hard with Tsukasa. But it changed with the aparition of Morganna, and the rebellion of Maha against her is one of the best moments in the series i think.

I like a lot gift, it's totally stupid and delirious, and also it's a good parody of the series (like Crim and Sora who are always fighting for nothing, or also Ginkan and Subaru :D ) And Balmung who is totally depressed, terrible!:D

There are some news surfacing about the german release of //SIGN .

The first (and most reliable) is that the german dvd label ACOG aka OVA Films picked up the license of SIGN and plans a DVD release this year.

The second and IMO less reliable news is that TV station RTL2 wants to pick up SIGN and air it in may. I think this is less reliable because it came from a playstation magazine I don't know or read (PlayThePlaystation). Also, SIGN is by far not the kind of series RTL2 would pick up. It airs most of the "kids" shows like Pokemon, Digimon, Yugioh, One Piece and dbz, and all of these from monday to friday. Maybe rtl2 tries to build up their reputation and add a "mature" anime block to their shedule, but I doubt that, really.

EDIT 1. March 2004:
SIGN has been confirmed to be released by ACOG. The DVDs will have Japanese as well as German dub and german subtitles. 7 dvds are scheduled for all 26 eps (but what about 27 and 28?). The first DVD is scheduled for April 2004.

The news about RTL2 screening SIGN have not yet been confirmed, and I doubt they will. Since 2003 many titles that have been licensed by ACOG aired on german music tv station VIVA (like X TV, Hellsing, Angel Sanctuary, Blue Submarine No. 6, CFG, Aika, Arjuna and soon Najica and Noir). So I guess SIGN is going to air on VIVA as well after Noir, Najica or Arjuna have finished their run.
