Well Im considering the old zelda games RPGs and they certainly were greet! ^^
But D&Ds got me into RPG big time :)
The Zelda games aren't rpgs. :p
I remember that my dad and sister played Dungeon Master a lot, but it always bored me to death. I can't quite remember, but it might have been the Final Fantasy games (or some other Japanese game) that first got me interested.

Then what would YOU class them as cause if you trhow in FF1-3 at least into the RPG side you HAVE to claim the old origional Zeldas were RPGS :)
The Zelda games are of the action/adventure genre, there are quite a few differences between them and the FF games.

action/adventure/rpg
Look at those and youll find lots of compartives in all of them :)
Lets see Zelda - 3rd person game where you go about completing quests as your character, namly zelda :), grows in strength etc.. hows that not an rpg?! Ok wel I can see one major part missing but I gues it can be said not 'leveling up' - he does it auto - and choosing your skills and all does set him apart but you didnt choose skills etc in FF2 do you?

He doesn't really grow in strength, he just finds better items. Also the game is more action oriented, without as many distractions and you don't have to buy a new sword/armour every 30 mins.
And as for quests, lots of games have quests. In Sonic the Hedgehog your 'quest' is to find the emeralds and beat the bad guy, but thats not an rpg.
Oh heck, i'm right and you're wrong - just accept it. :p

It's not an RPG! Action/adventures are kinda like RPG lites; less boring stuff, more action. Don't make me shake my fist at you doods.
