Right I've brought this up AGES ago - a possible redesign of these forums. I know there are people that like these colours and feel it makes it stand out..

Personally I dislike the theme alot, too many reasons Anyway I'm chalenging all artists (would be nice if you are a webdesigner also but hey - we can manage with just an image) out there to design a cover for the forum.

You dont have to have a finished version or anything - post it up and people may suggest changes and may really like other parts of your design and incorporate them into their own.

One image (http://www.redbrick.dcu.ie/~art_wolf/images/dotHack.jpg) I have been messing about on, though I would love to get more high quality dotHack images into it - my googling is just not up there :)

Once we had a design done up we would have to get in contact with the admin again to implement it. The theme, if done up as a vBulletin theme, should simply mean he has to download it and then we can either have it set to default, or keep the current one as the default and allow each user to set which they want in their control panel.

I designed this in Photoshop CS2 and can supply the .psd file if anyone wants it.

Plus - I'm Art Wolf ;)

That design looks great! Only recommendation is to use a G.U. character too! That way, we kind of look updated.:p Other than that, I'm pretty happy with the different look!:D

OOO yay! Heh, I wanted to help last time you suggested this, but now I might actually be able to try something :)

I want to try and redisgn that logo, it looks pretty plain... Heh

Maybe having a central logo with characters from each section of the story going along the top? Just the main characters of course, maybe the main character from each book/anime/game? :p Could maybe have afew of the bad guys too :p Heh

Unfortunately, while I'd love to try and remake that logo, tonight I have coursework >.< Damnit...

Afew words, anyone got any screenshots from forbidden levels on the dothack games? I'm looking for stuff like the distortions on the ground, and the binary code floating around. Anyone got any of that stuff? Or shall I try and make my own? :p (Next week after my mocks if you don't mind :p)

As anyone else looked at anything they could do?

I do wish I had photoshop though, as I have paint shop pro, so I don't think that will work with .psd file. Heh ^^ Can .png files hold layers?

Yeah PSP cant read .psd files sadly - I really liked the PSP untill some 'mad' new edition went and rearranged the entire layout and I was lost. Now I could have stayed with it and learnt where everything was again but Im lazy and had heard many good things about Photoshop :)

Yeah I really couldnt find much good art to work with so I just stuffed the two characters in there to at least tie it in with the game :) I origionally started playing with scenes down the side - it was wider then - alot like whats on dothack.com now. Then realised that the site is by bandai so we arnt linked with it :/

I've heard about that edition, but I've never moved past PSP7 :p

My googling is very sucky, so I wouldn't expect me to find anything much better, but scenes down the side does sound cool :)

what id like to see is one based on the menu from the .hack games

with the altimit background and the options down trhe side...mebbe

could be awkward/difficult tho

But i thought having forum names cramped down the side like that might be difficult...apparently not tho!

and I think u should be able to choose either orange, red, or blue based themes

Tis a good idea, the problems would be with programming it. Getting all the icons into place should be okay (I can do that from pictures like those) but then you can either have it cool and have the sections in the middle collapse and open up from the sidemenu, or you can make it easy(er) and have the section in the middle work like a normal website.

Either way, I can't program that :p I could make proper logo's though :)

I like the collapsable idea

but so long as the side buttos aren't jus decoration i dont mind...and if the side buttons were pics that were related to both .hack and the topc theyre about thatd be cool

Yeh, I could make like the games section pic a controller, or games, or a console, the off topic would be something random, fanart would be some drawing, collesium weapons, all done in the kind of style of the games menu.

Course, it could end up needing a full redisgn once GU comes out if it's different in those games :p

Heh, I think I've just given myself way too much to do there, better try some stuff :p

Off Topic - Speech bubble
Forum Colloseum - Crossed Swords
Fan Art & Fiction - Pen and brush

Hopefully, that should look okay to everyone :) Working on making the menu look like a real menu now.
