The Riddling Reaver

Hi. I dont know how many of you remember the old "Choose your own adventure" or "Fighting Fantasy" books. But any that do will probably remember enjoying them.

anyway, I remember that there was one which was specifically designed for multiple players called "The Riddling Reaver" and I managed to find one in a charity shop.

Now, today, i remembered that istill had it and thought that maybe it wuld be cool to play it online with some of you guys.

No-omne need worry. only 1 person needs the book, and only one person is needed to keep track of any details.

According to the book, it works best with 5 players (and one gamesmaster: Me). So i will have to work on a first come first served doodah. of course if not as many people are interested, then 3 or 4 works fine too.

anyway. if anyones interested i'd like to get this up and running asap, and if it proves popular, another will soon be on the way



EDIT: Four of the characters will be Warriors, and the fifth will be a Mage. The Mage will be physically weaker but (obviously) will be able to wield spells I AM GAY!

that sounds coooool...i remember those kind of books.
they had them at my old school, there was like 10 in the series, they werent very long..but me and my friend used to do them in free reading time before english :)
i still have one actually...never took it back to the library :p

Haha...which one...a FF one?

The Fighting Fantsy series was the most popular. There were 59 single-player format books, 3 novels, 5 source-books, a multiplayer book (The Riddling Reaver), a series of singleplayer ones wgere you ply as a wizard, and a load of others.

I have about 30 of the Single-player ones, the multiplayer one, and a sourcebok


Anyway, things are looking up. We have 3 players and A GM. But you night not be able to be mage adge. I think Shiro wants the job too.

Stats

Shiro:

Stamina (Hp) = 14 (max for mage)

Skill (with weapons) = 8

Luck = 10

Adge:

Stamina = 17

Skill = 11

Luck = 8

Ruri

Stamina = 24 (Max amount)

Skill = 7 (minimum amount)

Luck = 9

Revolver

Stamina = 19

Skill = 9

Luck = 9

Xias

Stamina = 22

Skill = 8

Luck = 7

Rules

Right, basically, i will type up a passage from the book, and ask what you want to do. you tell me and i will decide what happens. sounds boring and stupid the way i just said it, but its not

You will have tasks or missions or objectives or whatever e.g. To get into the tower in part 1

You will encounter enemies and other characters in the story, and its your collective decision whether to help, threaten, kill etc. them.

your Stamina is your life which will go down whenever youre beaten in combat. your Skill determines how often you will be beaten in combat, the higher the better, your luck determines how lucky you are, but it wont last forever, every time something can be determined by luck (even if you lose) your luck rating will go down

You can get potions that will restore luck, skill, stamina, or even all three.

If someone's stamina is reduced to 0, they are knocked unconscious til the end of the fight, if they're stamina is reduced to -1 they are mortally wounded and will need medical attention, if its reduced to -2, they're chopped to pieces and ther's no hope (or is there...you decide....sort of)

I will do all the hard work (score keeping, dice rolling etc.), you just need to sit back, relax and enjoy the show
