How to play Battlezone™
Battlezone is a first-person combat game. Players compete for highest scores in a world beyond the stars. It's a battle of skill and wits between the player and enemy tanks and missiles.
Controls
Begin playing by pressing "1" on your keyboard for a one-player game. (In Battlezone there is no two-player game.)
- Up Arrow - Forward
- Down Arrow - Backward
- Right Arrow - Rotate Right
- Left Arrow - Rotate Left
- Space - Bar Fire
Pressing two keys at the same time combines the moves. For example, Up and Right causes the tank to curve toward the upper right. Down and Left causes the tank to curve to the lower left.
Gameplay
Players start with 3 tanks. The player can maneuver his or her tanks in a 360 degree radius. A quick glance at the radar scan display shows the location of enemy tanks. "Enemy in range" appears on the screen, the player positions his or her tank, aims, presses the fire button, and the enemy tank is blown away!
After the first two enemy tanks have been destroyed, more targets appear. Saucers fly randomly across the target area after 2,000 points. Missiles begin to appear randomly at pre-selected score levels beginning with 10,000 points. The speed of the enemy tanks increases after six missiles have appeared.
Scoring
- Slow tank = 1,000 points
- Missile = 2,000 points
- Fast tank = 3,000 points
- Saucer = 5,000 points
